 En el presente trabajo se relacionó la gestión basada en competencias con la gobernanza en el gobierno distrital de Santa Cruz. Fue un estudio con diseño no experimental, descriptivo correlacional. La muestra fueron 30 servidores públicos del municipio, a los cuales se les aplicó una encuesta. Se evidenció que la gestión por competencias se relaciona positivamente con la gobernanza (r:0.746; p=000), siendo ambos imprescindibles en la actualidad porque se adaptan en las tendencias actuales a nivel organizacional, pues sin la presencia de ellos el aspecto institucional no tendrían una visión.
